What To Do On A Short Break In Inverness

Inverness War MemorialIf you fancy a quiet and relaxing weekend away a short break in Inverness is just what you need. Located in the Scottish Highlands the city has a lot to offer even if you don’t want to travel further afield to see the amazing scenery, castles and other attractions. There are many things to see and do in and around Inverness and as an added bonus there is a great choice of restaurants, bars and even a casino.

A walk a long the River Ness is an excellent way to pass some time on a sunny, summer afternoon and you may even spot a passing seal. You can walk along one side of the river past Bught Park until you reach the footbridge which links to Ness Islands. The islands are a pretty and tranquil place to be with families and children strolling through as well as the locals walking their dogs. As you continue through the islands you eventually reach another footbridge which takes you back off the islands onto the river footpath on the opposite side. As you walk along this side of the river you can enjoy a rest on the benches and further along take a look at the Inverness War Memorial with it’s floral masterpieces all around.

Caledonian CanalFor those that want to experience more of the beauty, quiet and supremely fresh air a walk along the Caledonian Canal is a must. It’s easy to walk from the city centre to the canal and you can even stop off at the Floral Hall en route. The footpath beside the canal stretches almost five miles to Dochgarroch where there is a loch and a quaint restaurant called Oakwood. Throughout the warmer months you can see rowers on the water as well as the pleasure boats that are on their way to and from Loch Ness. There are boat tours along the canal, run by Jacobite who have a base at Tomnahurich Bridge, and you can see one of their boats, the Jacobite Queen.

But if you are looking to enjoy the nightlife of Inverness, there is plenty to keep you occupied. People always like to try something different whilst on holiday, so why not try out one of the casinos located in Inverness. Gambling online at sites like Gaming Club has become more popular in recent years, with many people taking up gaming at online casinos as a hobby. But there is nothing better than getting dressed up and heading down to the casino and playing a few hands of cards or having a few rolls of the dice to add a touch of the Monte Carlo class to your evening. The main gaming room in the city is the one4 Fun Casino, which has a great array of games for the punters to enjoy. With the likes of roulette and slot machines to play, and being open every day, the casino is a great place to unwind after a long day and to have some real fun. So if you’re looking for heritage, culture and to win some money gaming, then Inverness is the city for you.
