Useful Inverness Tourist Information
Inverness, the Capital City of the Highlands of Scotland, is a lively and vibrant city attracting visitors from around the world every year with the city centre buzzing with life throughout the summer. The city centre has some historic buildings with beautiful architecture and a visit to the Victorian Market should not be missed. Inverness Castle sits in an elevated position overlooking the River Ness which flows through the City. You can walk around the castle but it is not possible to go inside as it used as a law court.
You can take a stroll along the River Ness past Bught Park to Whin Park and the Floral Hall. On the way back towards the city centre cross the footbridge onto Ness Islands. You can walk through the peaceful islands with the river flowing on both sides until you reach the end and up onto the footpath along past the War Memorial.
